GIFT GUIDE // Holiday gift guide: Paper & Clay

Brit, the artist behind Paper & Clay, makes gorgeous, totally functional ceramics in colors that are to die for. Her eye for beauty and quality (which is readily apparent in her craft) makes her an apt curator for our first gift guide! Her list includes "higher-end items that are totally worth the splurge, for people who'd rather get one really nice gift, versus a bunch of little ones." Personally, these picks have me hoping for quality over quantity when it comes to gifts this holiday season! Read on for her six picks, and what she loves about each one.

1. Black Maple Hill Small Batch Bourbon $120
Nothing says Hello Winter quite like a delicious-warm-you-from-the-inside tipple of Bourbon. Black Maple Hill's elusive recipe has kept enthusiasts speculating for some time. I don't know the secret, but I do know it's worth every penny. Rich smooth perfection in a bottle. Maybe gift this one to yourself.

2. Handstitched Computer bag by Amelia $395
Amelia has long been considered one of the best shops in the South. The impeccable curator and owner, Erin Abbott has launched her own line of luxe leather handbags. So lovely and well made, you'll be passing this heirloom piece down to your grandchildren.

3. Serving Bowl by Suite One Studio
Lindsay Emery's clean and simple ceramics are simultaneously feminine and strong, precise and organic. Her gorgeous pieces have graced the covers of more than one magazine this year, and would be a welcome addition to any tablescape. My favorite is this big, beautiful serving bowl.

4. Wood Salad Servers by Board & Bread $155
Emily Brock is a third generation wood worker, and her brand of functional wares is warm, sophisticated, and above all, design perfection. These salad servers are at the top of my list this year. I love the beautiful lines of her work-- a nod to a Mid-Century aesthetic, but still a look all her own.

5. Imogene + Willie Denim $225
The best damn denim you'll ever find. As soon as you step into these perfectly made pairs, you'll fall in love. Incredibly well made without being fussy, their men's jeans are just as amazing as the women's. Hint: you'll likely want to drop down a size.

6. Plus 9 Throw $350
This killer throw from DWR mixes the highest quality with a traditional pattern, and takes it to the edge with a great contrast of bright colors. It's perfect for your friend with a gorgeous house full of incredible . . . neutrals.
