CURATE // ROUNDUP: THREE New Magazine Favorites

A few weeks ago we did a magazine roundup after being inspired by all of the publications we’ve seen shaking things up in their respective fields. More discoveries have been made, and it’s time for part two. Below are three mags we’d like in our mailbox.

Worn Fashion Journal

We discovered this Canadian-based fashion journal through features on The Hairpin. It’s a biannual publication that carves out an independently-minded niche that sets it apart from mainstream publications. Readers will find a diverse group of body types, subcultures, ages and lifestyles represented in its pages.

Special Request

We haven’t figured out exactly what Special Request is, and we quite like that about it. We know it’s a magazine, and we know the first issue had a food theme. They also list GZA, John C. Reilly, Florence Welch and Coolio (??) as contributors. Beyond that, the themes are open to abstract interpretation.

We like the mission statement behind this magazine devoted to living spaces. “A home sweet home is not curated or produced by acquiring a perfect arrangement of chairs, lamps and friends. A real living space is made from living, not decorating.” The aesthetic of Apartamento is not perfect and glossy, it’s like a messy artist’s studio that’s still one of the coolest places you’ve seen.
