SOS // Friends: Little Low is the Featured Shop on Esty Today!

// Our friend Caitlin of Little Low is the Featured Shop on Etsy Today! //
We were psyched to see our friend Caitlin McClain of Little Low as the featured shop on Etsy this morning. Her stationary and prints will brighten your day and make you smile, whether it’s the painted canvas of vegetables that bloom in each season or a card with a blank speech bubble that says “you had me at…” above it.

Her story on the Etsy front page is fantastic. An eye for illustration and attention to design comes through in Caitlin’s work, and her background as a web designer and interior design major in college makes total sense. Her designs are witty and fun, but a knowledge of the history and textures of design through the years is apparent in her retro sketches (like this “bon voyage” card). We loved this quote from her interview:

I feel most inspired by everyday utilitarian objects that are beautiful and iconic on their own. That’s probably why many of my designs include illustrations referencing cooking utensils, camping gear, shoes, cars and vintage ephemera. I love the interaction we have with our belongings and how personal and meaningful an image of that item can be, especially when you look at it in a different light.

Caitlin is also part of the The Maker Co-op, a collective of Austin-based designers and artists that Son of a Sailor is a part of. A big congratulations to Caitlin and Little Low Studios!
