more after the jump…
we kicked it off in style—-this was our first new year’s eve in our new home, and we greeted the year in a united front of silliness.

we got hitched! it was the biggest party we have ever put together, and it was every bit as amazing as i could have ever hoped.
and, after the wedding came the honeymoon, of course.

outside of travelling to see one another while we lived long distance or visited family, this was our first vacation together as well as our honeymoon! playa del carmen did the trick as the perfect place to go…
we also then hired two lovely studio assistants that have, for the remainder of the year, made it possible for us to realize growth in so many ways! Son of a Sailor is a team effort with great contribution from these two wonderful ladies!

caitlin and kirsten have quickly catapulted themselves into the realm of our friends, as well. and for friends we do things like learn how to make quilts…

with a little help from friends, i completed my second baby quilt, carrying on a long standing family tradition. i’ll keep trying to improve my skills in honor of my uber talented grandmother!

we had our most formative backyard soirees, causing us to realize how badly we needed to landscape…

so we landscaped! we’re still trying to get grass to grow in the backyard, but it is leaps and bounds better than it once was. which was a pile of dirt. with pants and air rifles and glass in it.
which worked out well, since we then got the puppies, and pants and air rifles and glass is not a good playground for pups. (prepare yourself for too many puppy photos…it’s hard for me to stop!)

billy and i went to ACL music festival, and had the epiphany that we no longer enjoy the chaotic insanity of mass multi-stage events! unless we’re VIP (matt, you spoiled us with that!) neither of us have the tolerance for the anarchy any more. maybe we were just tired this year. or maybe we’re just lame! either way, it was nice that billy shared my distaste for it!

(although this guy was pretty rad)
we also launched our first intentional and complete collection since our classics pieces! it was ushered in with a kick butt party at Parts & Labour, and was a successful evolution of our business!

we then got our first big national press, as well as an amazing acknowledgement in Tribeza, a local magazine. it was incredibly affirming and one of the most exciting things to see our designs in print!

we watched as our friends have had babies, and gotten married. we’re in the throes of seeing families form and grow around us, and are loving it! we’ve become an aunt and uncle this year, and look forward to meeting our niece and nephew next week!

we kicked our branding for Son of a Sailor up a notch, and then immediately launched our new line, Son of a Sailor Supply. we were so pleased to feel that our brand is really reflective of our aesthetic vision, and look forward to adding new and exciting products that reflect many more of our interests! (men’s stuff! games!)

the holiday season whipped us around like a teacup ride, but with our travels to fairs and our family coming to us, we had a great time! my mom and dad came to celebrate with us at our home, and we look forward to visiting billy’s parents in a week for some great knopp catch-up time!

there were trying times and difficult moments in 2012, to be sure. but i can’t help but feel an overwhelming and profound sense of happiness, thankfulness, pride, joy, sentimentality, and love that just emanates from the past year.
here’s to all of our friends, family, supporters, collaborators, fellow mischief makers, creators, loves, and challengers. i hope your 2012 was as amazing, and that 2013 is beautiful for everyone!
oh, and one more for good measure:
